"I can only conclude that I was not made for here"

Wow, haven't updated in forever. Here's the lazy bum at it again. Not like anybody read this anyway.

So, I've been interning at Opening Ceremony since July and I love it a lot! It's really amazing that you're actually considered part of the team. Learning a lot actually as a web intern focusing on marketing, analytics, blog stuff. The only purchases I've made so far are these braced-lets which are actually pretty cute! Got 5 of them in assorted colors. They're bracelets that look like braces. Pretty cool concept. All/most of the "fashion people" have them. Haha.

I woullllllllllllllld purchase other designer clothing (discounted for us interns, mmhmmm), but I don't know. Haven't really been in the shopping mood lately. Can you believe I gave up an Alexander Wang SAMPLE SALE??? Yeah, me neither. Oh well. Clothes is clothes.

I feel like God is really placing in my heart the urgency to help the poor and less fortunate. A career goal of mine is to really reach out to charities and collaborate in terms of keeping people clothed especially in 3rd world countries and what not. I'm happy working in the fashion industry and all but I want to make a difference in this world.

An ultimate and amazing achievement would be to create my own eco-friendly clothing line that donates most of its proceeds / actual merchandise to people who are in need. (like Toms!) I already have some ideas in place. Just need more of a conviction from God and the MONEY to start it up nameans?

Okay, sleep time.

xx.

Where is my mind?

Quick updates:

I am currently interning at Issey Miyake USA Corp. as a press intern!
If you don't know the company, you should look it up.
Usually only people who are REALLY into fashion know who Issey Miyake is. Everybody else is like...what's that.

I will be simultaneously be interning at Opening Ceremony as a blog/multimedia intern starting July. Pretty excited for that!

THE BIG DAY IS TOMORROW.
MY 20th birthday! One year shy of my 21st, which puts me in an awkward spot. At least it's not as awkward as 19 years old. At least 20 makes me an official NON-TEENager.

I know I should have put this list up a while ago, but all I do is work in the city and meet up with friends, go home, and pass out. Too lazy to update, nameans. I'm horrible. It's okay.

If I was a rich girl nanananananaa and had rich friends, or a sugaaaadadday, I would probably expect these for my birthday. Instead, I'm a starving college student, paying her dues in the fashion industry with two unpaid internships, living off daddy until I can one day get a real job like a real boy, not expecting any gifts. It's all good. I would say I'm not too materialistic anyway. BUT IN AN IDEAL WORLD:

via
Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Leather Bag ($1,595)

if only...

via
Christopher Kane Patent-trimmed Platform Sandals ($393 on sale)

not TOO bad! but still...can't afford it for myself at the moment. I am OBSESSED with neon-y colors btw.

via
Diane von Furstenburg Lytton cracked-leather box clutch ($325)

I like how vintage it looks.

Okay, well my supervisor is currently in Paris so I have a lot more responsibilities in the office. I shouldn't be blogging heh :P I'm too lazy to post any more things, so that's it for now.

Peace and looooooove.

Party in the USA

It has been 16 days since I've updated. BAD CHRISTINE.
It has also been about 2 weeks since I've been back from Paris!
As much as I miss Europe, I love being home. I love being back with my family, puppy, and friends.

And the reason I haven't updated in so long is because I've been really busy going in and out of New York City, interviewing for various places and having fun dates with the boyfriend/friends.

Regardless, here are some updates:

Bought these Betsey Johnson Jolene heels for only $30 at Sak's Fifth. It was in the sales rack, just my size. Talk about lucky. They look hotter ON the feet.

I'm interning at Opening Ceremony starting July! I'll be working on the blog content for their website and assisting the Head of OC Worldwide with analytics/marketing/e-commerce! So excited and blessed to have an opportunity like this.

I love, love, love this company, how it started, everything it stands for, etc. etc.
Check out their website here. Such amazing clothes that I wish I could afford.

Band of Outsiders

Also, I'm assisting freelance stylists, Tina Chai and Catherine Litke, at the Band of Outsiders photoshoot next week! Pretty exciting stuff. Will be hard work, for sure though.

Went to Social Eatz (Chef Angelo Sosa's restaurant) last night with a couple of friends and DIED because the food was JUST AMAZING. (Price range not to bad either)

Had the Bulgogi burger AND the Bibimbap burger (well half of each) and had a food orgasm (sorry TMI). SOOO DELICIOUS.

It tastes as good as it looks. TRUST ME. Go there for yourself.
The fries weren't too special, but the smoked ribs....AMAZING. The meat literally melted off the bone into my mouth.

Will be away for a couple of days, but will not update as late as I did this time.
Also, I have been wearing some cute outfits lately but I have nobody to document them for me. SO, outfit pictures are still in progress.

CIAO.

finally finished

No more teachers, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks! At least until the fall semester rolls around.

So yay, I am officially a junior in college! Finished my final exams today. I now have 3 full days left in Paris before I head back to NY/NJ for the summer. In the fall, I'm studying abroad in Shanghai!
But we'll get back to that later.

Since I want to make blogging an everyday thing, here are some things that I want to get but can't afford. This is going to be depressing.

pop_31160_1gry.jpg
Proenza Schouler bracelet $150. (via Opening Ceremony)
I know it's expensive for something you probably make yourself, but the colors and designs are so pretty! Perfect accessory for the warm weather.

Proenza Schouler Bustier Dress w/ Skirt $2,385 (via Opening Ceremony)
Um, would never be able to afford this...but a girl can dream right? This dress is gorgeous though. But truthfully, I don't know if it'd be worth this much.

pop_34988_1-dress.jpg

Opening Ceremony High Collar Pleated Dress $520 (via Opening Ceremony)
There's an ongoing debate about whether see-through lace tops + bras are slutty or sexy. I think it depends on the person who is wearing it, like how well-endowed they are if you know what I mean. Pour moi, it's alright I think (:

Future Fringe Dress

Funktional Future Fringe Dress $69 (via Nastygal)
Finally, an affordable piece! It's really cute with the fringes that add the unique touch, and the model kind of looks like Effie from Skins. Dontcha think?

Reality Cutout Wedge
Jeffrey Campbell Reality Cutout Wedge $97.50 (via Nastygal)
These are just weird, like me. I'd love to stomp around in these.

HELMUT LANG Asymmetric Maxi SkirtHELMUT LANG Asymmetric Maxi Skirt
Helmut Lang Asymmetrical Maxi Skirt $230 (via Ssense)
I've been obsessing over maxi dresses , skirts lately but I don't have any because I'm too scared about whether I can pull it off. BUTTTT, I'm going vintage shopping on Thursday and my aim is to buy a maxi skirt/dress! I wanna rock them.

Well that's enough with the lusting. Is it sad that I had all of these saved under my favorites in a folder called "WANNNA BE A MILLIONAIRE" and there's many more saved items...? AHHH.

Au revoirrrrrrrr for now.

mother's day

Okay, so even though today is Mother's Day, I will be doing a late Mother's Day post.

So these are(n't) excuses, but I couldn't really do anything special for her this year because:

1. I'm in France; She's in New Jersey
2. I'm a poor college student
3. I sent her a card, which cost me a whole .89EUR instead.

But she liked the card...she got it on time, and it's the thought that counts!

When I'm rich and famous (chyeah), here are some of the things I would want to get her:
Valentino Lace and satin pumps ($695)
Not only are they lacey, girly, and pretty, but also the heels are low enough so that I know she won't trip, fall, and God forbird twist her ankle any which way. She would be the most fashionable woman at the office, fersure. A fresh breath of air, I must add.

3.1 Phillip Lim Satin-twill peplum jacket ($850)
Because this jacket would make working at the office, that much more interesting. Also had to throw in this designer because I mightttt be working there this summer.

Alexander Wang Adele suede and patent-leather fold over trunk clutch ($625)
My momma would be all the rage when stepping out to get coffee at the local diner with all of her gossipy friends. A clutch makes just anybody into a chic, fashionista. Ha. Plus, who doesn't love leather...? Well, I know I'm obsessed.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Studded Chunky chain-link watch ($250)
Okay, nice to see that this one is a bit more affordable (phew). It's an interesting piece that could be worn everyday. And black matches errrthing, so yeah. Think this would be a nice accessory for her to have. Very office friendly, I might add.

Hopefully by the time mother's day comes around next year and I'm rich and famous, I will get her everything I wanted to get her my whole life. Some louboutins? A new car? A new house? Pshhh, I got this.

In the meantime, I'll try and "save up". Buttttt, that is unrealistic as my sister's birthday is coming up, all my summer baby friends, then there's Christmas, etc. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HOLIDAYS?!

* All photos courtesy of net-a-porter.com

P.S. Outfit posts to come within a week / week 1/2 's time when I get back to the city. It's finals week here in Paris, so I haven't been going out much, haha.

this is chrixotic

This is the first post to yet another blog that will probably end up dead due to negligence, pure laziness, and/or lack of creativity. But blogging is something I'll probably never be able to give up altogether. Enough with the small talk though, let's get to the good stuff (?)

WHO: My name is Christine, I'm 19 years old, but only for another month or so. And finally, may I add. I'm "chrixotic" because I thought "quixotic" would be a cool word to mash my name up with. I know, I'm kind of lame like that. But I am Christine, and I am quixotic, so it works out like that. I'm an upcoming junior at New York University majoring in Media, Culture, and Communications. As much as that is a mouthful, this major allows much freedom in terms of careers. And so, I will probably be working in the fashion industry -- probably in marketing. I previously interned at Gracia Fashion and Alexander Wang, and am set to interview at Givenchy in about a week or two. But, I also have have an interview with Opening Ceremony and 3.1 Phillip Lim when I get back, so we shall see!

WHAT: Ideally, this blog will become well-known and hopefully inspirational, but I highly doubt that. It's just a creative outlet to EXPRESS MYSELF mmhmm via graphics, words, fashion, musings, etc. And obviously to show how not sensible and idealistic I am about stuff. (Although, a part of me does believe that these "unrealistic" things are not really "unrealistic" but possible.) BUT I AM A REALIST, and reality persuades me otherwise.

WHEN: May 7, 2011 at 9:01PM. I love those numbers because they're all odd. I don't like even numbers. When finally I discovered a name to call this blog and made a pretty fonted banner to go with it!

WHERE: I'm currently studying abroad in Paris, France! I've been here since January of this year and am actually set to go back to the states in a week. I live in New Jersey, but my heart is in New York City (I go to NYU). So while not a TRUE "New Yorker", I give myself the title of "Honorary New Yorker", if that's okay with you? If not, oh well.

WHY: Because this is the last thing I should be doing during finals week.

Faith is an important part of my life as well as fashion (duh), food (DUH), photography, cute animals, music, and traveling.

Here, some of my current obsessions:

1. Jonathan Simkhai S/S 11. So, perfect. LOVING the neutral tones, the polished casualness. My kind of outfit -- especially because I am trying to steer clear of BLACK. Too much of that in my wardrobe.

2. Pretty desserts (via tumblr). Perfect spring dessert! I don't know what it is EXACTLY but it looks like blackberry mousse cake! I've been loving soft textured desserts as of late, and flan especially. And especially because amazing flan can be found stocked on the shelves of Parisian local supermarkets.

3. YSL Iconic Arty Oval Ring (via). So I know this ring has been around for a while, but I still love it. It's USD 250 and I want it. I want it NOW. I hope it's still available by the time my birthday rolls around (June 22 COUGH COUGH).

4. Koalas (via). My friend is studying abroad in Australia right now and I am SOOOO jealous. He told me he's going to pick out the cutest one and bring it home to me. I can't wait! (Yeah, okay.)
